The WATTPAD I USED TO LOVE

The WATTPAD I no longer know

So I found this BLOG account of mine that I created about 3 years ago.Then I suddenly wanted to create a new Article to release some steam and thoughts about the ever changing WATTPAD APP.

As a wattpad reader to begin with I am really feeling sad and disappointed with the people behind the app. Through the years I can no longer say that it is the best reading app ever found in this digital age. I am quite hesitant to speak out my thoughts because at some point WATTPAD gave a lot of things to me as a writer.

It gave me the opportunity to create and communicate by means of writing. It became my resting and playing ground when I am tired dealing with real stuffs. It gave me the chance to meet new people, connected me with my favorite writers and allowed me to be discovered by editors and even let me have my writing contract where I really earned good sum of green money. I am probably considered as a neophyte or a rising amateur author but I am thankful, very thankful for that matter, but... I can no longer feel the same way.

I started reading and writing in this app 5 years ago wherein there were unlimited stories on the store to add in the libraries for FREE. I could finish a book without TOO MANY ADVERTISEMENTS and without me being hanged with the story next chapters because they were accessible without the need of paying it. FAMOUS AUTHORS then were very friendly and approachable that they could manage to reply the chats of readers who were professing LOVE AND ADORATION. Readers themselves are very PATIENT and APPRECIATIVE to the flow of story the writer plotted and the writers schedule for updating.

But WATTHAPPENED?

 Almost in every story chapters there are ADVERTISEMENTS, some STORIES are NO LONGER ACCESSIBLE unless you pay, if not the whole story SPECIFIC CHAPTERS will be LOCKED and can only be read when paid. Before, unlimited books of different genres can be read OFFLINE without the need of PAYING using YOUR SAVED SCHOOL ALLOWANCE during the weekdays.  "SOME" AUTHORS were dubbed with negative comments because they were SCAMMER? RUDE? UNAPPRECIATIVE for love and adoration their readers are offering, ARROGANT? (don't make me name them, you can search and find some news or posts about these authors). Most of all the readers are not the same anymore, they no longer appreciate the saying "do not judge a book by its cover", if not all, majority of wattpad readers now are impulsive and keyboard warriors, negative and degrading comments about the story will not help the author improve her writing or the story, opinions and suggestions are very helpful but negative comments are really unwelcoming . 

WATTHAPENED? Yes WATTPAD is undeniably one of the top ebook platform now but why is it becoming more of a business platform now and no longer an APP that caters the talents of writers and comforts readers after a long tiring day at school and work and serves as a leisure activity when everyone else needs a book to read?

To WATTPAD HEADS bear with me, your platform means a lot to me, in fact to many people out there, but with the changes you are doing you are pushing us AWAY even if WE DON'T WANT TO. PLEASE DO CONSIDER THE FACT THAT MOST OF WATTPAD READERS ARE TEENAGERS , SCHOOL-AGE who seeks happiness by indulging themselves with the work of fiction of different writers all over the world who simply wants to release steam and their thoughts in your platform( most readers as I mentioned they were school-age and teenagers) dont have enough money to buy books so they rely on WATTPAD, when writers write in wattpad we dont seek for opportunity to be paid , we just want to share and create. I want my voice to be heard for I am representing millions of WATTPADERS all over the world who just want the OLD WATTPAD BACK.

 The NON TOXIC FREE WATTPAD for all, not the WATTPAD FOR THE RICH who have paypal or debit card accounts, those who have coins to buy the next chapters of the book they are reading, we just want it back, that old WATTPAD that we used to LOVE.
